BABSA BURIAL SOCIETY

BABSA has established a burial society which is exclusively for BABSA members, their family members and dependents. The BABSA Burial Society was introduced by the President of the Party, Mr Lovemore NDOU. According to the President:

“The burial society was put in place to help our members plan ahead for the inevitable because when that inevitable day comes, there is so much to do. Our motto at BABSA is, IN DEATH AS IN LIFE, WE STAND TOGETHER, ALWAYS A FAMILY, ALWAYS A COMMUNITY. WE ARE OUR BROTHERS’ AND SISTERS’ KEEPERS.”

“Over the years, on a weekly or a fortnightly basis, I was getting approached by community members asking me to help cover costs associated with a loved one’s funeral. Since Covid-19 the number has doubled and I have thus far helped pay for more than 300 funerals. Unfortunately, although I don’t mind helping out those in need, I cannot pay for everyone’s funeral service. It’s unsustainable, hence I came up with this idea of a community-based organization that will offer financial and emotional support to its members in the event of a death.”

“In that respect, our members will make regular contributions to a communal fund, and in the event of a member’s death, BABSA BURIAL SOCIETY will provide financial and logistical support for the funeral. Further, where required, the Society may also provide additional support, such as organizing the funeral and offering emotional assistance to the bereaved family.”
